Bacquet’s Restaurant in Eagle, ID. 5-Stars!

OK. This is an awesome French restaurant in Eagle, ID, just west of Boise. I know of no other French restaurant in the area of this caliber. Definitely a 5-Star restaurant! It really replaces Le Café de Paris and Andrea’s. Both of which have closed. Great interior ambiance – like sitting in a French café. The patio offers seating also, but on our visit, it was very hot. You may also have live music on the patio. It would be best to call for reservations if you decide to go. Both Chef Franck and his wife Michelle are very warm, charming and interesting. Anxious to answer question you may have. Here is some of the dishes we had and they were awesome. Delicious! Beautifully presented. Enjoy. We did. We’ll be back! Capitol Cellars Hosts Parma Ridge Winery

The entrance at 5th and Main in the Belgrade Building.Such a great Wine Dinner hosted by Capitol Cellars in Boise. The featured wines were from Parma Ridge Winery. And if I may so bold as to say, if you need something to do on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, give the Parma Ridge Winery Restaurant a try. Chef Storm Hodges does an awesome job in the kitchen while Stephanie serves some great wines.
The wine dinner served consisted 1 appetizer and 3 entrees and Parma Ridge wines that were perfectly matched. The 2014 Merlot that was served with the Pork Ballontine is in short supply – they have mostly sold out. A wonderful Idaho Merlot and we were lucky enough to get 2 bottles! Yea! Here is how the dinner went. Delicious!

Exec Chef
Exec Chef Dave Shipley, “… As for the food, chef Dave Shipley, who worked with Dustan Bristol at Brick 29, was motioned to run the kitchen. He has a penchant for sourcing local and regional foodstuffs, like farmstead cheese from Ballard Family Dairy, greens from Purple Sage Farms and beef from Double R Ranch.”

Capitol Cellars did a fantastic job in preparing these entrees. Our hats are off to Exec Chef Dave Shipley. Wonderful job and it is great to see your using mostly local, Idaho products in your menu. From their website, “Our History – located in Boise’s historical Belgravia Building, Capitol Cellars opened its’ door in March 2015. Capitol Cellars takes pride in serving local cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full coffee bar and an extensive wine list.”

Parma Ridge Winery and Restaurtant

6April216_1c_Parma-Ridge-Restaurant_HeaderI’m running just a little late in posting this. Sometimes it’s terrible to be away from ones desk for any period of time. I received this yesterday from Stephanie at Parma Ridge Winery and Restaurant. And I want to let everyone know that I have had several comments about the job both Stephanie and Chef Storm do in the kitchen and in the winery. Folks are very happily surprised. They also commented on the artwork on the walls! Here is the latest information from Stephanie. Enjoy!

Two Boise Wine Meet-Up Groups Party!

19Dec2013_2_Wine-Meetu=Up-Tastings_Trey-Busch

Two of the Boise Wine Meet-up Groups met this past Wednesday. The first group met at Tastings Wine Bar in Boise with Trey Busch, pictured here, of Slight of Hand Winery from Walla Robin and I took these with her phone. Walla, Washington doing the presentation of his wines. As I did not have my camera with me, Robin and I took these photos with her phone. Left-Click any of these photos to see enlarged. There should be no small photos – except for the one above of Trey – so you may need to “Refresh” your screen. Cheers!

They had the interior of the pub all decorated out for the Holiday Season. It was nice sitting around the fire that was situated in the center of the room and seating on all four sides. Definitely warm! In order to keep the wine cool, we placed a glass of ice water between the wine and the fire. The two glasses were touching. Yes, it does work! Enjoy these photos, even though some of them are a little “artsy”. Cheers!

Valentines Party at Indian Creek Winery, Idaho

10Feb2013_1a_Indian-Creek-Valentines_Motor_Home - Copy (2)We took the motor home on a run today out to the Indian Creek Winery (Kuna, Idaho) for their Valentine’s Day Party. Beautiful day. 47 degrees in the sun and clear, rich blue skies. The event was very well attended and everyone enjoyed the wines and the food. Mike McClure, Winemaker, took us on a tour through the winery’s library of wines. I remember some of those wines! Awesome. And of course, we just had to add to our cellar inventory. But what great wines. Good Pinots. Good Fortified wines. Here are some photos Robin and I took today. Enjoy!!
